BO LONDON - LONDON

In Mayfair, there is Bo London , chinese chef Alvin Leung’s restaurant.

Alvin-The Demon chef-is the inventor of the X-treme Chinese cuisine that reinterprets ancient recipes in a contemporary and fresh perspective.

Already awarded two Michelin stars for his restaurant Bo Innovation in Hong Kong, he has now received his first star for Bo London after a few months of opening.

In the evening, there is a choice between two menus: the “Ode to Great Britain” (12 courses-£80) and the “chef’s menu” (14 courses-£125), interesting mix of Alvin Leung’s signature dishes and new creations.

There’s a lot of poetry and madness in the names of dishes, and creativity in every step of the chef’s menu. I loved this very new and fun interpretation of Asian cuisine.

I love:

  1. The history of the self-taught chef, engineer, who has changed life in his 40s to live his passion;
  2. The dishes invented by the chef to value every creation ;
  3. The crazy cocktails (King’s Cup – Porn Star Martini) ;
  4. The marshallow tomato and coconut crush that explodes in the mouth ;
  5. The provocative and playful names of the dishes: “Sex on the Beach”, “Clouds”, “Bed and Breakfast”…;
  6. The show made of visual surprises ;
  7. The more affordable “dumplings only” lunch menu (25 euros).

I like a little less:

  1. To go there with people who do not like spicy food. You should be initiated to Asian cuisine and its flavors to enjoy the experience ;
  2. That the room was not packed, perhaps because of the holiday period.
