GARAGE–À–MANGER - BRUSSELS

This is a new address in the Châtelain neighborhood.

I already loved El Camion , the retro-look foodtruck on Saint Gilles Market. Now there is the Garage-à-manger, the “real restaurant” and … I love it.

A few ingredients were needed to give birth to this unusual place: a meeting of three inspired men ( Pêle-Mêle – El Camion – Prototype), an old garage at the back of a second hand shop, some designer furniture and vintage touches, an open kitchen. And the local dishes of the chef Joel Geismar of course: a bit old fashioned, good and comforting.

The result is hype and cool : an unusual place to taste a market lunch menu during the week ( 2/4 services – 15/18 euros) , and to have brunch on weekends ( low temperature eggs , beans , sausages, homemade granola , poached pears , pastries … ).

Shall we go back there again on Saturday?

I love :

  1. The decoration, its vintage look, and its large host tables ;
  2. The market menu that offers old dishes we wouldn’t have chosen on our own ;
  3. Stopping there at any time of the day, for a coffee, a lunch or a snack.
