Uncle Babe's RESTAURANT - Ghent
What? A burger and cocktail joint.
Where? In Ghent, in Belgium.
For who? Junk food addicts.
With whom? With a bunch of buddies, to drink cocktails, have long talks, and realize that we would love to have dinner together.
My feeling? Babe wanted to create an American informal place where you could meet for a drink and have dinner without breaking the bank. To do so, he put the priority in choosing qualified and friendly bartenders to make cocktails and “make you feel at home“.
As soon as you will have eaten his “Super Size Me” bacon-cheese burger and onion rings, you will understand that Babe was definitely not joking about it. Everything is homemade, from the bread to the meat, through the potato chips, mayonnaise and ketchup.
His cool hipster universe, mixing Brooklyn and Berlin, matches perfectly of Ghent city that I love.
The service? Young and relaxed.
The must? The onion rings – amazing – inside the burger.
What I love?
The generous and homemade burgers;
Meeting an American who fell in love with our little Belgium;
Wooden and copper masculine interior;
The contrast between the music in the main room and the quiet toilet with scientific broadcast sounds.
Open from Tuesday to Friday from 12 to 0.30 am. On Saturday from 12 to 2 am.
